Delegation Headed by SHOU Leaders Visited Bangor University and the University of Manchester

From January 16 to January 21, the six-person delegation of SHOU, led by Vice President Wu Jiannong and consisting of Director of Foreign Affairs Department Zhong Junsheng, Director of Teaching Affairs Department Zhang Zong’en, Deputy Dean ofthe College of Marine Sciences Tang Yi, Associate Professor Hu Song of the College of Marine Sciences and Associate Professor Zhu Hua of the College of Foreign Language, paid a six-day exchange visit to Bangor University and the University of Manchester.

At Bangor University, the two parties reviewed the cooperation results between them in the past four years, further explored potentials of the joint university-running program between them, and decided to extend the summer student exchange, graduate student exchange, professor exchange and other programs from marine sciences to computer science, business science and other disciplines. Wu Jiannong signed acooperation framework agreement with Bangor University. The delegation listened to introductions about the teaching and academic research of the College of Natural Sciences of Bangor University, surveyed the teaching laboratory, internship terminal and scientific research training ship of its School of Marine Sciences, listened to the scientific research reports given by theleading teachers of the school, and reached a cooperation agreement with Bangor University with regard to the objectives and preliminary work arrangement ofthe “2+2” training pattern for marine sciences.

In the University of Manchester, the delegation held a seminar with the teaching team of the College of Humanities of The University of Manchester, and listened to introductions about the specialties, academic degrees, developmental history, internationalstudent exchange and so forth of the college. They conducted a retrospective evaluation on the study tour of our students in 2016, and reached a consensus with each other about how to further deepen and expand their exchange cooperation and perfect their cooperation plan. The delegation also visited the College of Earth Resources and Environmental Sciences and the College of Life Sciences of The University of Manchester, surveyed their teaching andscientific research features and advantages, exchanged their opinions about cooperative university-running, teacher-student exchange and so forth, and laida solid basis for the specific implementation of cooperation in the future.
