Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT) Delegation Visited SHOU for Steady Progress of “CAMPUS Asia” Program

Following the visit of Korea Maritime University delegation to SHOU in February, the 13-people delegation of TUMSAT, led by Professor Masashi Maita, Dean of its Graduate School, also visited our university for a short-term exchange on March 20-23.

During their visit, the SHOU leaders warmly received the faculties and students of TUMSAT; the Graduate School and Teaching Affairs Department of SHOU engaged in in-depth communication and exchange with our guests with regard to the sending of students to Japan for short-term exchange and the implementation of the double degree program.

The eight students from TUMSAT were respectively assigned to the College of Marine Science, the College of Food Science and Technology, the College of Fisheries and Life Science and the College of Engineering Science and Technology according to their specialties, and joined hands with the teachers and students of SHOU to complete the experimental learning tasks themed by “Removal and Grinding of Squid Otolith”“Chitosan-encapsulated Lysozyme”“Microwave-assisted Extraction and Purification of PBDEs from Sediments” and “Single-Stage Transistor Amplifier”.

In addition to specialty-related learning, they also took “Chinese Experience Course” and “Chinese Tea Culture Experience Culture” and visited our Science Museum of Aquatic Organisms, which deepened their understanding of both Chinese culture and SHOU.

With the substantial support from the College of International Cultural Exchange, the Archives, the College of Fisheries and Life Science, the College of Marine Science, the College of Food Science and Technology and the College of Engineering Science and Technology, the exchange visit achieved its expected results. Based on the consensus reached among SHOU, TUMSAT and Korea Maritime University, the Short-Term Program, International Joint Program, Double Degree Program, Summer School, Professor Symposium and other subprograms under the three-university “CAMPUS Asia” program will be put into implementation in succession.
