About the Lecturer:

Dong Bo, Ph.D, professor, doctoral tutor, graduated fromQingdao Ocean University in 1997, received his Ph.D. degree from the Instituteof Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005, postdoctoral fellow of SaasInternational Center for Marine Molecular Biology at Bergen University inNorway from 2006-2010 and was appointed as the postdoctoral fellow of RIKEN CDBfrom 2010-2014. From 2014 till now, he has been acting as special-termprofessor of Peak Development Program of Ocean University of China and TaishanScholar Program of Shandong Province. He is currently Deputy Director of KeyLaboratory of Marine Biogenetics and Breeding and Deputy Director of MarineBiological Diversity and Evolution Institute of Ocean University of China.

In recent years, he has been taking ascidian and othermarine chordates at the important evolutionary nodes as the experimentalmaterial, and carrying out animal organ morphogenesis and evolution studies throughthe genetics, cell developmental biology, biophysics and othermulti-disciplinary approaches. He has made a series of innovative achievementsin morphological regulation and steady-state maintenance mechanism of ascidian chordateand other organs. Over the past 5 years, he has published more than 20 papersin major international journals, including 14 articles as the first author andcorrespondent. His core results have been published in internationallyrecognized journals such as PNAS,PLoS Biology, eLife, Nature Communications, Cell Reports and Development. His papers published in PNASand PLoS Biology were simultaneously reviewed andinterpreted by authoritative experts; papers in eLife and Developmentwere selected as highlights of the current issues. Three of his articles ineLife, PLoSBiology and Development were recommended by Faculty of1000 experts. His paper inBiologyOpen was used as the current cover article. He was invited towrite a review paper in Current Opinion in Genetics & Development, the flagship journal in the field. His research results of BiomechanicalForce Determining the Formation Mode and Distribution Position of ProteinStructure of Cytoskeleton were selected as the Top 10 Science andTechnology Advancements of Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science andTechnology. Currently he is presiding over the programs of the National NaturalScience Foundation of China, the National Laboratory Open Fund and ShandongProvincial Natural Science Foundation.
