About the lecturer:

Xu Zhen, Professor of College of Aquatic Products of Huazhong Agricultural University,was apprenticed to Prof. Chen Changfu (master tutor) and researcher NiePin (doctoral tutor) from 2003-2009 and received his Ph.D. in 2009. From 2009to 2015, he had been a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania inthe United States, and started his teaching career with Huazhong AgriculturalUniversity after February 2015. He focuses his study on fish immunology, mainlyin the following two aspects: (1) thebasic research of fish mucosal immunology, focusing on studying the immunefunction of fish immunoglobulin and its B lymphocytes in the infection (Parasites,bacteria and viruses)of mucosal tissue (intestine, skin and gills), and theinteraction of microbial flora on the surface of fish mucosa with immune cells;(2) Research on the prevention and treatment of major fish diseases, includingthe formation of the immunological detection methods for major fish epidemicdiseases, as well as the vaccine research and development, evaluation ofeffects and integrated immunological control against major diseases infectingfish mucosa tissues. He has published 14 academic papers in internationalauthoritative journals such as Nature Communications and PNAS and has been frequently invitedto give academic reports at international academic meetings such as InternationalSociety of Fish and Shellfish Immunization, International Society of Developmentand Comparative Immunology, etc. He also serves as a reviewer for magazinessuch as Fishand shellfish immunology, Developmental and comparative immunology.
