Cross-Strait Ocean University Basketball Friendship League Held at Our School

On October 16, the Cross-StraitBasketball Friendship League was held on Lingang Campus between National TaiwanOcean University and Shanghai Ocean University. Li Leiming, president ofShanghai Cross-Strait Exchange and Promotion Association, Wu Jiamin, PartySecretary of Shanghai Ocean University, Wu Jiannong, vice president of ShanghaiOcean University, Zheng Yuewen, director of Information Services of TaiwanAffairs Office of the State Council, Gu Zuhua, director of the Information Servicesof Shanghai Taiwan Affairs Office, Xiang Guoning, President of Taiwan UnitedDaily News, and Zhuang Jigao, vice president of National Taiwan OceanUniversity, attended the meeting and watched the game.

In his welcome address, WuJiannong welcomed the arrival of students from National Taiwan Ocean Universityand hoped that the team members would follow the spirit of friendshipfirst and competition second, respect the rules, work hard together andachieve excellent results, and wished the friendship between the twouniversities would last forever as time goes by.

Zhuang Jigao and Xiang Guoningdelivered speeches respectively, and Xiang Guoning kicked off the competition.

Players from both universitiesstruggled and won warm applause from the audience. The concept of friendshipwas vividly reflected through the competition.

It was reported that thisexchange was the first basketball activity between Shanghai Ocean Universityand National Taiwan Ocean University, which filled the gap of basketballcompetition across Taiwan Straits. In addition to the basketball competition,our cheer-leading team performed a wonderful performance for the competition. Theexchange will lay a solid foundation for the continuous cooperation in thefuture.

Shanghai Ocean University andNational Taiwan Ocean University have been maintaining good communication andexchange since 1998. As the universities of the same name across Taiwan Straits,the two universities are not only connected by blood and culture, but also havesimilar blueprint and beautiful vision. Both universities have entered intoextensive and in-depth exchange and cooperation in terms of faculty exchange,student exchange, scientific research and platform construction and havecontributed to the joint improvement of the educational levels of the twouniversities and the promotion of the development of marine higher educationacross Taiwan Straits.
