2017 Shanghai - Busan Marine Seminar Held at our School

From December 2 to 4, Shanghai 2017 -Busan Marine Seminar co-sponsored by Shanghai Society of Oceanology andLimnology, Korean Institute of Marine Industries and Shanghai Ocean University,and co-organized by Shanghai Ocean Management Affairs Center and ShanghaiWanghai Data Information Co., Ltd. was Held in the Meeting Room 102 of the Imageand Information Center of Shanghai Ocean University, with the theme ofProtecting Marine Environment and Developing Ocean Economy.

On December 2, Shanghai-Busan MarineRoundtable Symposium & 10th Anniversary was held. Wang Feng,inspector and deputy director of the East China Sea Branch of the State Ocean Administration,delivered the opening speech. Zhu Shiqing, deputy director of Shanghai OceanBureau and vice chairman of Shanghai Society of Oceanology and Limnology, JinHishun, director of the Marine Industry Department of the Marine Bureau ofFisheries in Busan, Wu Jiamin, party secretary of Shanghai Ocean University, LiXiuhao, president of Korean Institute of Ocean Industries, and Zhang Huirong,chairman of Shanghai Society of Oceanology and Limnology, reviewed the 10-yearhistory of Sino-ROK Ocean Symposium, expressed ardent expectations and bestwishes for the further development of the Symposium. Subsequently,representatives of China and South Korea made speeches and discussions on thedevelopment of ocean big data. The roundtable was chaired by Zhuang Ping,director of the East China Sea Fishery Research Institute of the ChineseAcademy of Fishery Sciences.

On December 3, three representatives fromChina and South Korea conducted academic exchanges, and representatives fromboth sides conducted in-depth exchanges, exchanged views and reached consensus onthe status quo and development in various fields such as marine economy, portmanagement, marine industry, marine physics and marine environment. After theseminar, Jin Huishun, Li Xiuhao and vice presidents Li Jiale and Zhang Huirongfrom our school, on behalf of both South Korea and China, congratulated eachother on the smooth convocation of the symposium and affirmed the achievementsmade by the two sides at the seminar, expressed the hope for the opening of thenext seminar. The seminar was presided over by Yang Zhengyong, director of theDivision of Science and Technology of our university.

During the meeting, ROK representativesalso visited the abyss center and dynamic water tank of our university, offshorefishing training center and East China Sea Fisheries Research Institute.

A total of 24 representatives from BusanMarine Fishery Administration, ROK Marine Industry Research Institute, KoreanOcean University, Busan University, Dongseo University, Youngsan University,Pukyong National University, Dong-eui University, Catholic University of Busanand some Korean companies, as well as more than 100 experts, scholars andstudents from East China Sea Branch of S.O.A, East China Sea EnvironmentMonitoring Center, East China Sea Information Center, East China Sea ForecastCenter, Shanghai Ocean Bureau, East China Sea Fisheries Research Institute ofChinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, Shanghai Society of Oceanology andLimnology, China Polar Research Center, Tongji University, Renji Hospitalaffiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai Maritime University andour university participated in the seminar.
