SHOU Teachers Attending the 3rd Annual Scientific Committee Meeting of the North Pacific Ocean Commission (NPFC)

From April 9 to 20, the 3rdAnnual Scientific Committee Meeting of the North Pacific Ocean Commission(NPFC) and other related work-group meetings were held in Tokyo, Japan. Morethan 50 representatives from China, Russia, Japan, South Korea, the US, Canada,Vanuatu and Taiwan of China attended the meeting. The Chinese delegation,composed of Tian Siquan, Chen Yong, Li Bai, Hua Chuanxiang, Xu Luoliang and DaiLibin from theInternational Performance Research Center for Pelagic Fishery of SHOU, attendedall the meetings.

The 3rdAnnual Scientific Committee Meeting of the North Pacific Ocean Commission(NPFC) and other related work-group meetings mainly included the third SSC-VME, the first SSC-BF, the third SSC-PSand the 3rd Annual Scientific Committee Meeting.Li Bai from theInternational Performance Research Center for Pelagic Fishery of SHOU chairedthe third SSC-VME as Chairman of SSC-VME.

This meeting also discussed and deliberatedin the fishery production, fishery data analysis, SSC-VME, SSC-NPA, SSC-PS,Pneumatophorus japonicus resource assessment and other scientific affairs ofthe member states of NPFC. As the largest fishery party in the water areaunder the jurisdiction of NPFC, China has very important core interests in thiswater area. The members of the Chinese delegation actively took part in thediscussions of the meetings and the drafting of related management suggestions.With their efforts, the Scientific Committee did not pass any resolution thatwould jeopardize the rights and interests of the Chinese fishery, and ourdelegation satisfactorily fulfilled its tasks.
