To actively respond to China’s “Belt andRoad” Initiative, further implement SeveralOpinions of Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) on FurtherPromoting International Construction and expand the international influence andenrollment scale of SHOU in Morocco, from April 23 to May1, representatives sent by theInternational Exchange Office (the International Student Office) and theCollege of International Cultural Exchanges made a high school exhibition tourin Morocco, and participated in the largest internationalstudent education exhibition in Morocco. The activities were closely followedby Moroccan media.
At the invitation of four high schools inMorocco (i.e., Institution Khalil Gibran, College et Lycee Louis Le Grand, AlMouwantana and Groupe Scolaire Lamzibri), SHOU made a enrollment talk tour onApril 24~25. With the aid of trailers and brochures, SHOU representativesintroduced in details the campus environment, discipline features, studentactivities and other information of SHOU to teachers and students of Morocco.The two-day tour attracted about 500 Moroccan students.
The international student educationexhibition organized by Group L’ETUDAINT Marocain was the largest internationalstudent education exhibition that had the largest number of school participantsin Morocco. In the four-day international student education exhibition fromApril 26 to 29, more than 10,000 Moroccan students came for information aboutparticipating universities and colleges from various countries. This created agood opportunity for establishing overseas education brands in Morocco. Theonly two Chinese universities present at the exhibition distributed more than1,000 brochures, and answered questions raised by nearly 1,000 participants.
The large number of students and parentsgathering around our booth also attracted the attention of Morocco’s officialTV stations. In the news of that night, a long footage about interview of SHOUrepresentatives was played.
During the visit in Morocco, SHOUrepresentatives had a lot of tasks to accomplish. With hard work of six days,they publicized SHOU, and completed field enrollment task. At present, someMoroccan students have completed the application procedure for our languageprograms in 2018-2019 and entered the admission interview of the AIEN Institute. Many students have registeredto participate in the FirstInternational Summer School Program of SHOU in 2018. Several high schools haveexpressed their intention to sign a cooperative agreement with SHOU. Both the international student education exhibition andthe high school exhibition tour in Morocco proved to be very fruitful.
As the largest fish producer in Africa, theKingdom of Morocco has highly abundant fishery resources. In recent years,Sino-Moroccan relation has become closer and closer. On May 11, 2016, China andMorocco issued a joint declaration about establishing strategic partnershipbetween the two countries. Based on a friendly Sino-Moroccan relation, SHOUwill actively expand its multi-party cooperation with Morocco, fully bring intoplay the advantages of its First-class Discipline of “Aquatic Products Science”,and effectively forge the international education brand of “Overseas Educationat SHOU”, thus offering international support and guarantee for theconstruction of first-class disciplines and a high-level characteristic university.
