On June 15, AIEN Institute held the Graduation Ceremony for 2018 AIEN SHOU Graduating-Students & Degree-Awarding Ceremony in the Lecture Hall of Student Activity Center. Present at the ceremony were Wu Jiamin, Secretary of SHOU CPC Committee; Cheng Yudong, SHOU President; Michael Field, Chairman of the Council of the University of Tasmania; Robert Atkinson, Vice President of the University of Tasmania; Wang Jizu, Dean of AIEN Institute; Jiang Min, Director of the Teaching Affair Department of SHOU; Luo Rukun, Head of the Student Affair Department and Director of the Student Office; Martin Grimmer, Acting Chairman of the Academic Degree Committee of the University of Tasmania and Dean of the School of Business and Economics; Brian Yates, Head of the School of Science and Technology; Chai Shuhong, Deputy Head of the School of Science and Technology; Kristen Crispin, Deputy Dean of the School of Business and Economics; Dean Steel, Academic Degrees Coordinator of the Institute of Technological Environment Design of the School of Science and Technology; Robert Wilson, Executive Director of the International Division, etc.. The ceremony was directed by Wu Jiannong, Deputy Secretary of SHOU CPC Committee. Graduates and their parents, over 300 in number, gathered to jointly witness a milestone in the life of these students before embarking on a new journey.

  

Amidst solemn music, two flag-bearers, holding high university flags, led their honor guards into the venue, and received warm applause. The Graduation Ceremony for 2018 AIEN SHOU Graduating Students formally kicked off.

Cheng Yudong and Michael Field gave speeches in succession. They extended their sincere congratulations and best wishes to these graduates who were about to start a new journey, and expressed their great respect and heartfelt thanks to their teachers and families for their painstaking efforts over the past years.

Cheng Yudong sent some affectionate messages to the graduates, hoping that they would actively embrace the ideal and faith of the era, bravely shoulder their historical responsibilities, truly establish their global vision, patriotism and innovation spirit, and always be a pioneer in realizing personal and Chinese dreams, always adhere to the innovation spirit, advance ahead and live up to the best years of their life. He also wished that they would stay true to their original selves, do extraordinary work at ordinary posts, and create glory in their life.

Martin Grimmer announced the degree-awarding of Bachelor of Information Systems and Bachelor of Commerce to students on the graduate list. Cheng Yudong announced the degree-awarding of Bachelor of Administration to students on the graduate list. Wang Na, Deputy Dean of AIEN Institute, read out the student lists in the specialties of “Marketing” and “Information Management and Information System”. Cheng Yudong and Michael Field turned the tassel for every graduate, and shook hands with each of them as congratulation. After four years of perseverance in spite of hardships, they ultimately dressed up and walked into the venue.They could hardly conceal their excitement at this special moment.

Cheng Yudong and Wang Jizu presented certificates and gifts to Xin Yilian and Lin Yitong, excellent graduates of SHOU. Chairman Michael Field and professor Brian Yates presented certificates and medals to Tu Siyu and Zou Yi, excellent graduates of the University of Tasmania. Li Yitong, who was sent to Beijing Normal University on recommendation to study for her master degree, gave a speech as the graduate representative. In the speech, she shared some affectionate memories of four-year campus life, expressed their thanks to SHOU and teachers, and said that they would live up to the expectation of SHOU and continue to forge ahead in the future.

During the ceremony, after the awarding of degrees to graduates in the specialty of “Information Management and Information System”, students of AIEN Institute sang their original English song Bang Bang, in which they expressed their best wishes to all graduates and further reflected the courage and diligence of graduates of 2018 in chasing and fulfilling their dreams.
