About the lecturer:

Bi Hongsheng obtained his Doctoral Degree of Science at the Department of Oceanography, Louisiana State University in 2005. From 2005 to 2009, he was engaged in postdoctoral research work in Oregon State University and the Joint Laboratory of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA); since 2009, he has successively held the posts of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at the University of Maryland; in 2016, he was appointed as Pengcheng Scholar Distinguished Chair Professor at the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University.
