Southampton Solent University visiting SHOU and publicizing its programs of studying abroad

On October 8, SHOU signed a university-level memorandum of understanding with Southampton Solent University, which formally launched the cooperation between the two universities.

On that morning, Homam Hammadeh and Sunny Deng, officials of the International Office of Southampton Solent University, visited SHOU, held meetings with the Department of Student Affairs , the Department of Teaching Affairs  and the International Exchange Office, and engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges of ideas about student innovation and entrepreneurship education, joint  training for  students to be talents and other programs.After that, they publicized their programs of studying abroad in the meeting room of the College of Marine Culture and Law, mainly introducing “3+1” double-Bachelor degree program and “3+1+1” double-Bachelor degree & Master degree program. Also present at the meetings were related leaders, teacher representatives of international affairs and student representatives from the College of Economics and Management, the College of Engineering, the College of Information Technology, the College of Marine Culture and Law and the College of Foreign Languages. This was the second visit paid by Southampton Solent University to SHOU after the one in March.

As one of the practical training bases for principals of the Chinese Academy of Governance, Southampton Solent University enjoys high reputation in practical training and applied training for students to be talents, and a set of featured industrial connection service management models in terms of supporting student innovation and entrepreneurship. In November 2017, SHOU sent its first delegation to Southampton Solent University. During the visit, our delegation held meetings with experts from the College of Maritime Sciences and Engineering, the College of Business and Law, the Maritime Sociology Research Team and other departments of Southampton Solent University, visited seven innovative practice laboratories there ( i.e. art making, carbon fiber material, testing, advanced manufacturing, robotics, intelligent control and wave flume), and gained  multi-dimensional understanding of the flexible management methods employed by Southampton Solent University in supporting student practice and innovation.
