Professor Chen Xinjun of SHOU Elected among the Fourth Batch of Outstanding Teachers under “Ten Thousand Talent Program”

According to the Circular on Issuing the List of the Fourth Batch of Finalists of Ten Thousand Talent Program released by the General Office of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee (No.10 [2019] Issued by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee), Professor Chen Xinjun of the College of Marine Science of SHOU was successfully elected among the fourth batch of outstanding teachers under “Ten Thousand Talent Program”. This is also the first time a SHOU teacher is elected among the outstanding teachers under “Ten Thousand Talent Program”. A total of five teachers based on Shanghai got elected, including two from universities and colleges, and three from middle and primary schools.

Professor Chen Xinjun is the responsible person of the Pelagic Fishery International Performance Team, one of the first batch of Huang Danian-style Teaching Teams among Nationwide Universities. He is long engaged in first-line teaching and scientific research, and serves as Director of a Ministry of Education Key Laboratory, and member of a discipline appraisal group of the State Council. As a leader and pioneer of Chinese pelagic squid jigging fishery, he has received many honorary titles, including the 5th Shanghai Outstanding Teacher Award, outstanding CPC member in the CPC Committee system of Shanghai Education and Health Committee, Teacher's Professional Ethics Model, etc. In 2018, the Pelagic Fishery International Performance Team, headed by Professor Chen Xinjun, was successfully elected among the first batch of “Huang Danian-style Teaching Team among Nationwide Universities”. Besides expanding academic influence and supporting the “Belt and Road” Initiative of the country, it has improved our influence in international fishery field, safeguarded our marine rights and interests, and made major contributions to the sustainable development and expansion of our pelagic fishery cause. Over the years, Professor Chen Xinjun has undertaken more than 60 projects, including National “863” Project, National Key Technology R&D Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, special high seas fishery resources expedition projects under the Ministry of Agriculture, etc. Focusing on the fishery biology and ecology of oceanic squid resources, resource assessment, fishery forecast and other related fields, he has conducted in-depth studies, developed 9 squid jigging fisheries, published more than 600 papers (SCI and others), obtained more than 100 intellectual property rights (including patents, software, and so forth), received more than 20 national and ministerial-level science and technology awards, and published more than 30 monographs and textbooks.
