On the morning of May 8, during the 7thChina-Nordic Arctic Cooperation Symposium, SHOU signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Akureyri in Iceland. This means that Shanghai and Nordic countries will engage in closer cooperation in polar research, and jointly explore issues of common concern to drive the development of “Polar Silk Road” and “Belt and Road”.

According to the agreement, the two sides have the intention to establish a new partnership for teaching and scientific research in the field of polar research, and they will strengthen their cooperation and exchange in the fields of oceanology, biology, biogeochemistry, geophysics, geography, the law of the sea, and so forth by means of developing cooperative research projects, organizing joint academic and scientific research activities, exchanging scientific researchers, teachers, students, and doctoral candidates, etc.
