SHOU Attended the Meeting of “Japan-China-Korea Intercollegiate Cooperative Project to Foster Leading Water Environment Engineers” in Nagasaki University

On May 13th and 14th 2013, Professor Zhong Junsheng from the Foreign Affairs Office and Professor Tang Jianye, Vice Director of the Graduate Department attended the 2nd joint management meeting of “Japan-China-Korea Intercollegiate Cooperative Project to Foster Leading Water Environment Engineers” in Nagasaki University, and discussed about the combined training of postgraduates with Nagasaki University. Furthermore, the two professors from SHOU exchanged opinions with other universities on the future development of “Japan-China-Korea Intercollegiate Cooperative Project to Foster Leading Water Environment Engineers”, which will benefit SHOU postgraduate candidates in pursuing overseas studies. After the meeting, they had a site visit of the research achievements.

“Japan-China-Korea Intercollegiate Cooperative Project to Foster Leading Water Environment Engineers” is under the auspices of Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology which lasts from 2010 to 2014. The purpose of the program is to promote Japan’s technology in water environment protection and sustainable utilization of water resources in East Asia. Under this program, 11 postgraduates from China and Korea are received to study in Nagasaki University. SHOU is a member in this program, and sent 3 postgraduates to Nagasaki University in 2011 for the first time, and sent 1 postgraduate every year after that. Apart from SHOU, some other domestic universities are also members of the program including Tongji University, Shandong University,  Fuzhou University and Shandong University of Science and Technology.
 
During the conference, the two professors talked with the 4 postgraduates sent to Nagasaki University by SHOU, and listened to their opinion about their life, study and future employment opportunities in Japan. Moreover, the two professors listened to the 3 postgraduates’ English presentation of their master theses in the conference, and they were confident that these students would successfully win their degrees from Nagasaki University.
