About the lecturer:

Yan Ansheng, male, born in November 1937, a native of Zhenjiang, JiangsuProvince, Prof. of Beijing Foreign Study University and a doctoral tutor

In 1979, he went to study in Japan under government funding, majored in ComparativeLiterary and Cultural Studies of Tokyo University and received his doctoraldegree from Tokyo University in 1989. He once served as director of JapaneseDepartment of Beijing Foreign Study University and director of JapaneseResearch center of Beijing.

In 1992, the academic monograph by Prof. Yan Ansheng named TheSpirit of Studying in Japan: the Tracks of Modern Chinese Intellectualswas published by Japan's Iwanami Shoten and was awarded Japan's 19th JiroOsaragi Prize. In June 2015, he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun issuedby the Japanese government for his outstanding achievements in Japaneseeducation in China and in Japanese research.
