Professor Hans-Peter Klenk is a world-renowned microbiologist and aninternational leader of microbial genomics, as well as a fellow of AmericanSociety for Microbiology, a member of Hungarian Society for Microbiology and anhonorary member of Indian Society for Microbiology. He used to serve asDirector of the Department of Microbiology of Deutsche Sammlung vonMikroorganismen und Zellkulturen (DSMZ), and currently serves as Director ofthe Association of Microbial Genomics Standards and Dean of the College of Biologyof Newcastle University.
