On the afternoon of July 12, Shi Ziming, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, and the other six members of the delegation under her leadership (composed of Second Secretary Fang Tao, Consulate-General of China in Penang Gong Youying and others) paid a visit to GST. They were accompanied by Wu Qingliang, Chairman of the Board of GST and other senior executives, and the two sides held a symposium. Shi Wenzhi, a graduate student of SHOU engaged at that time in cooperative research in the company, and other ten undergraduate interns also attended the symposium.

At the symposium, embassy officers engaged in in-depth discussion with GST about the contents and forms of “Sino-Malaysian enterprise cooperation” and other aspects, and claimed that the combination of the advanced aquaculture technology and huge market of China with the fine aquatic natural resources and good climatic conditions of Malaysia conformed to the progress of economic globalization, the call of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, and the fundamental interests of the peoples of the two countries. They also held cordial exchanges with our interns about their life, study, work and other aspects there, and put forward the question of “an all-around comparison between China and Malaysia in terms of the aquaculture industry”. Our students were very active in expressing their opinions, and won unanimous praises.

The three-month overseas production internship of the aquaculture specialty was the first time that an internship team within the specialty course system was sent abroad in the context of the aquaculture specialty of SHOU being selected under national “Double First-class” discipline construction. It was a milestone in the international development of our aquaculture education, and received extensive attention.
