On November 21, the 2nd Academic Conference of Sino-Portuguese International Joint Research Center for Marine Bio-sciences was held at the University of Algarve of Portugal; Cai Run,ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Portugal, sent a congratulation letter for the successful convocation of the academic conference and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between SHOU and the Institute for Oceanic and Atmospheric Research of Portugal, and expressed the hope to contribute to the improvement over the ability of scientific and technological innovation in the field of marine biology in both countries.
Chinese participants in the conference included Li Jiale, SHOU Vice President, professor Chen Liangbiao, professor He Peimin, professor Yang Jinlong, professor Zhu Jiangfeng, Doctor Li Tao, and graduate students of SHOU in Portugal; Portuguese participants present at the event included President Paulo Águas and professor Adelino Canario of the University of Algarve, Director Miguel Miranda of the Institute for Oceanic and Atmospheric Research of Portugal, and leaders of the University of Lisbon, the University of Azores, the University of Aveiro, etc.

At the academic conference, on behalf of SHOU President Cheng Yudong, Li Jiale signed the MOU agreement between SHOU and the Institute for Oceanic and Atmospheric Research of Portugal with professor Miguel Miranda, Director of the Institute for Oceanic and Atmospheric Research of Portugal.
