On the morning of June 25, 2019 Expedition Ceremony of 2019 Summer Professor & Doctor Service Group of SHOU was held at meeting room B102 of the College of Fisheries and Life Science. Present at the ceremony were Li Jiale, Vice President of SHOU; Li Huihua, Deputy Director of the Office of Science and Technology; Dean Tan Hongxin and Deputy Deans Huang Xuxiong and Yang Jinlong of the College of Fisheries and Life Science; and representatives of the Summer Professor & Doctor Service Group. The ceremony was presided by Tan Hongxin.
The Summer Professor & Doctor Service Group consisted of nine teams, i.e., four fishery teams and five featured teams. In the event, teachers from the College of Fisheries and Life Science joined hands with their peers from the College of Food Science and Technology and the College of Economics and Management to reach the grassroots level, and solve the difficulties faced by enterprises, users, and the masses. They provided summer services mainly through holding seminars with targeted units, visiting grassroots fields, communicating with first-line practitioners, solving production problems, sharing technological results with enterprises, etc.
Since sending its first Party member & Professor service group to Gaochun Fishing Area of Jiangsu Province (a national fishery science and technology demonstration county) for scientific and technological services in 2005, SHOU has adhered to this practice for 15 consecutive years. Each summer, Professors and Doctors in related fields are sent to agricultural production lines in the form of scientific & technological service groups or University-region Party building group under the leadership of Party members. They have left their footprints in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Liaoning, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Tibet, and many other provinces and autonomous regions, and created sound social benefits. Rooted deep in China (especially traditional fishing areas) and aimed at promoting university-region cooperation and deepening industry-education integration, they have fully embodied the Party building and service concepts of “propagating the 'Red Gene' and highlighting first-class features” in scientific & technological services and targeted poverty alleviation.
