Recently, the Ministry of Education has issued the Circular on Announcing the Filing and Approval Results of the Undergraduate Specialties of Regular Institutions of Higher Education in 2019 (Document No.2 [2020] issued by the Department of Higher Education, the MOE). The application for the specialty of “Data Science and Big Data Technology” submitted by SHOU has been approved.
Introduction to the “Data Science and Big Data Technology” specialty of SHOU: In the context of the implementation of the strategy of building our country into a strong marine power and the development of Shanghai into a science and technology innovation center, this specialty focuses on the huge demands of smart ocean construction for marine big data science and technology and talents. Relying on the digital marine research institute jointly built by the Key Laboratory of Fishery Information of the Ministry of Agriculture and the East China Sea Branch of State Oceanic Administration and featured of marine and fishery data science and big data technology, the specialty aims to train big data application-oriented interdisciplinary talents with international vision who can adapt to the demands of multiple disciplines and industries, especially smart ocean and smart fishery.
